Jessica Lohrey, Yoga Teacher
Jessica Lohrey was raised in a log cabin built by her father in the woods of rural Ohio. The family lived a simple existence close to nature, growing most of their own food organically. As a teenager, Jessica worked with her mother who owned an herb farm and sold essential oils. Jessica has been studying and using herbs, aromatherapy, and other holistic healing modalities for the last 30 years.
Jessica holds a B.S. in Zoology, and spent 10 years teaching environmental education at zoos and nature centers before finding her way back into the healing arts.
Jessica began practicing yoga as a way to stay in shape and reduce stress. After a life-changing motorcycle accident, Jessica’s physical and spiritual healing led her deeper into her yoga practice. Over the last 16 years she has studied various forms of yoga, including teachings from the Krishnamacharya, Sivananda, and Kripalu lineages. Jessica earned her 500-hour teaching certification at the Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts. Jessica enjoys studying the history and philosophy of Tantra Hatha Yoga, and how these ancient practices translate to a modern lifestyle.
Jessica is a long-time teacher and mentor in the South Florida Yoga Community. Considered a “teacher’s teacher,” Jessica has shared her honest and heart-felt approach on numerous teacher training faculties. She offers private yoga and one-on-one yoga mentoring for teachers and students.
Jessica founded Tree of India in 2007 as a yoga instruction and aromatherapy company. Spirituality, and nature appreciation have been woven into the company’s culture and continue to be the inspiration behind Tree of India.
